From Baekdamsa the trail follows the Suryeondong stream up to Bongjeongam, crosses Socheong and drops to Huiungak before entering Gongnyong Ridge. Past Maneungnyeong you come down through Biseondae to Sogongwon, about 24.5 km in all. Valley, hermitage, rock ridge and valley again: it is a classic Seorak traverse, usually split with a night at Bongjeongam or Huiungak. There is almost no water on the ridge.
