You climb from Sangwonsa past Sajaam and Jeokmyeolbogung to the Birobong summit. The ridge on to Sangwangbong is soft underfoot with low trees and plenty of sky. After Sangwangbong the crowd thins out and a long descent runs toward Duroryeong. It is a long day, but there is only one real climb at the start, so it stays steady if your legs hold. The ends differ, so leave a car at Duroryeong or book a taxi.
