From the trailhead beside Sangwonsa you climb steps and stony path past Sajaam and stop at Jeokmyeolbogung. It is the first stretch of the Birobong route, but turning back here costs two hours, not half a day. The best view is the ridge folding away beyond the Sajaam roofline. The shrine has no Buddha statue, only a stupa and a stele in a quiet yard, and voices drop on their own.
