From Sangwonsa you go up Birobong, then tick off Sangwangbong, Duroryeong, Durobong and Dongdaesan before dropping to Jingogae. It strings the park main summits on one line, so many people start before sunrise. The pull from Duroryeong back up to Durobong is where the legs feel heaviest. Dongdaesan alternates meadow and forest, and the walk ends at the Jingogae rest-area car park. It is the longest day on the mountain; if sunset looks close, bail out at Duroryeong.
