Starting at the fortress East Gate, you pass watchtowers and Wonhyobong, reach Godangbong, then drop through the North Gate to Beomeosa. Wall and rock ridge alternate, so the scenery is better than the temple route. The ups and downs make it harder than the Beomeosa out-and-back. Start and finish are on different sides, so sort out transport first.
