Start at the Bukhansanseong ranger station and follow the fortress wall through each gate in turn, returning to the same point. You cover the Uisang ridge, the main fortress ridge and the Wonhyo ridge, so the whole skeleton of the mountain goes under your boots. It is about 16 km and takes seven to ten hours with breaks. In short-day months start early and know which gates let you bail out.
