From the south car park the road past Tapyeongje and Geumdangsa to Tapsa is flat. From there you climb to Cheonwangmun gap, and the summit is 0.6 km further over iron stairs and pebble-studded rock. From the top the stone-tower yard you just passed looks tiny. It is longer than the north route, but Tapsa comes free on the way.
