The short path begins beside the Eorimok ranger station. Stairs and dirt trade places for about 30 minutes until you stand on a small crater rim at 1,169 m. On a clear day you can pick out Chujado, Biyangdo and Seongsan Ilchulbong beyond the city. A bunker dug by the Japanese army around 1945 still stands at the top, sturdy enough for five or six people. You never reach the crater lake, yet it feels like you climbed Hallasan.
