You start at the Surak-ri country village, follow the ridge over Maecheondae and come down on the Wanju side. After a small shrine and a pine wood you reach the main ridge, where peaks 521, Dotdaebong and 748 line up in turn. The north ridge from Dotdaebong to Nakjodae is bare rock, and your arms work as hard as your legs. From Maecheondae you descend the Samseon Stairs, cross the Geumgang Cloud Bridge, pass Dongsim Rock and reach the car park. You meet few people on the way, and the day fills up.
