The route starts at the Seongnam ranger station on the mountain's southern skirt. A forest road climbs 2.3 km to the Sangwongol car park, which cars can reach. From there about an hour of trail ends at Sangwonsa. The full way from the station to the temple is 5.2 km with roughly 650 m of climbing. A little above the temple you meet the main ridge at Namdaebong.
