From the Seongnam station a forest road runs 2.3 km to the Sangwongol car park, then about an hour of trail reaches Sangwonsa. A short climb behind the temple brings you onto the main ridge at Namdaebong, where the path turns into steady ups and downs. After about an hour you cross a wide helipad, and ten minutes beyond it is Hyangnobong and its lookout. Ending here instead of pushing on to Birobong keeps it much quieter. The Hyangnobong section is open only to hikers with a reservation.
