The top is a rounded, tree-ringed clearing with open sky. People queue briefly for photos at the marker, but unless it is an autumn weekend the line stays short. Ridges roll away low on every side, and the Wonju basin shows faintly below. The wind is stronger than at the base, so reach for a jacket first.
