From the Cheonhwangsa car park, you reach a fork 0.9 km in and head for the stream instead of the suspension bridge. Past Baram Falls the summit is 3.0 km from the start. There are fewer stairs and sheer drops than on the bridge route, so people who dislike heights take it, and so does everyone in winter, when the trail above the bridge is closed. The last rocky push to the top is just as breathless either way.
