From Beopjusa you slip out the side and follow the stream up to Sesimjeong on an easy grade. After Jungsajaam the path stands up noticeably. The last stretch joins the Hwabuk trail about 170 m below Munjangdae, and everyone climbs in one line. Allow about 3.5 hours up and 2.5 down. It is longer than the Hwabuk route, but it starts at the temple, so there is more to see on either end.
