From the Samga ranger station the trail passes Birosa temple, the Dalbatgol entrance and Yangban Rock before reaching Birobong. It is 5.7 km and about three hours up. The first stretch follows a stream on easy forest track, then the grade stiffens past Dalbatgol. A last run of steps tops out on the ridge, where the sky suddenly opens.
