It starts at Dowon village on the Hwasun side, follows the stream, then climbs a stairway to Gyubongam. The hermitage sits near 950 m directly beneath the Gwangseokdae stone columns, one of Mudeungsan's three famed stone sites alongside Ipseokdae and Seoseokdae. The route then descends toward Simujigi Falls, whose water falls about 70 m after rain.
