This is the old Saejae pass road, walked past Gate 1 (Juheulgwan) and Gate 2 (Jogokgwan) to Gate 3 (Joryeonggwan). A stream runs beside you the whole way, with the old post-station site, Gyogwijeong pavilion and Jogok spring along the route. It is a little over 6.5 km one way, about 2 hours, and the slope is gentle. Gate 3 sits on the Chungbuk border, so line up your ride back first.
