Chuseong village to Biseondam is 4.3 km, a further 3.7 km to the last waterfall at about 1,310 m, and 1.7 km more to the summit, 9.7 km in all. Streams and falls follow one another, but so do iron stairs and steep pitches, which makes this one of the roughest routes on Jirisan. The ascent takes around eight hours, so you start at the first permitted time. Most people come down the other side, to Jungsan-ri or Baengmudong.
