Yeongsil passes through forest and then a wall of rock pillars known as the Five Hundred Generals. Over the last rise the plateau opens, with grass and bleached fir trees. You can't reach the crater, but it is the easiest way to see the mountain's inner landscape. Instant noodles at the Witseoreum shelter are a ritual.
