Instead of stopping at the Deoksungsan summit, you cross Nabundeul Pass and Hanti Pass, follow the Geumbuk ridge to Gayabong, and come down toward Gaesimsa. Allow about 14 km and eight and a half hours with rests. Beyond Hanti Pass the ridge is overgrown, with a helipad and a string of 400-metre peaks, so the ups and downs keep coming. The Gayabong summit is closed because of transmitter facilities; the marker stands on a viewing deck reached by skirting the fence to the lower left.
