It starts on the Geonuiryeong pass, where the road drops from Taebaek toward Samcheok. A 50 m side trip leads to Pyodaebong, then gentle forest through Hannaeryeong and Gubusiryeong reaches the summit. Hwanseonbong has iron stairs, ropes and a drop on the right. At Jaamjae you leave the ridge for a steep 1.7 km descent to the cave. The ridge barely gains height, so it feels easier than 12 km suggests, but it fills the day.
