From behind Songgyesa it is about 3 km to Hoenggyeongjae and another 3.2 km to Baegambong, the Songgye junction. The slope is gentler than the steeper routes, a manageable way onto the main Deogyusan ridge from the Geochang side. At Baegambong the ridge toward Jungbong and Hyangjeokbong opens up. Turn back here or carry on to the summit.
