From the Gagok-ri bus terminus you walk into the village of Anmal and pass in front of Bogwangsa. Beyond the temple the crowds thin out, and the trail climbs to Gwarari Pass on the north ridge. From there you follow the ridge to the summit, far from the weekend rush on the Hopyeong side. It is the longer way round compared with the Neomeogol route from the same village.
