From the Unaksan car park the path heads toward Unjusa with Mujichi Falls on your right, then climbs stony ground with rope rails. Past a small spring and Daegungteo, where the rebel king Gungye is said to have hidden, come 125 wooden steps, near-vertical iron-rung stairs and rope sections. From the saddle viewpoint about 20 minutes of ridge brings you to Seobong, and East Peak is 200 m further. Instead of going back the way you came, follow the Hanbuk ridge past the phallic rock to Jeolgogae, walk another 700 m to Cheorameje and turn right down the valley to Daewonsa.
