Maisan itineraries
South to north in a day
Walk in under the south gate's cherry trees, pass the Tapsa stone towers, tag Ammaibong and come down the north side. It is the usual way across the mountain.
Gwangdaebong to Ammaibong
Day one is the long western ridge: up Gwangdaebong from the Maryeong side and down to Tapsa. Day two, you finish at the Ammaibong summit from the north gate. A quiet trail one day, the busy summit the next.
Maisan and Jeonju, three days
Day one is a light loop of shrine, temples and pond. On day two you walk the ridge, drive past a lake and sleep in a Jeonju hanok. Day three is a stroll through the hanok village, then home. Only one day asks much of your legs.
