Daejeonsa is only 0.2 km from the Janggunbong fork. Turn up here, scramble the rocky section over Janggunbong (687 m), then follow the ridge another 3 km to Geumeunggwangi (812 m). One 400 m stretch is rated difficult by the park service. Unlike the crowded main gorge, this side is quiet. Walking all the way down to the Geumeunggwangi entrance makes it 6.5 km.
