Gyebangsan itineraries
Unduryeong, Out and Back
Starting from the pass leaves only about 500 m of climbing. Summit in the morning, then wild greens and spring water in the afternoon: the gentlest way to spend a day on Gyebangsan.
Traverse then Fir Forest
Day one crosses the summit and drops through the yew grove into the Nodong valley on a one-way traverse; day two loosens the legs among firs and spring water. It costs your knees, but you see the far side of Gyebangsan too.
Buckwheat to Summit
Start with buckwheat noodles in Bongpyeong, sleep in Hoenggye, climb on day two and finish among the firs and the Lee Seung-bok sites. The mountain gets three days instead of one.
