Behind Beomeosa's main hall you pass Cheongnyeon-am and Naewon-am and enter the forest. From Gapobong to Janggunbong is about 500 m along the ridge, then roughly 2 km back to Godangbong, finishing with five minutes of stone steps. From the summit it is about 40 minutes down past Geumsaem to the North Gate, and then along the wall past Geumgang-am and Daeseong-am to Beomeosa. It is a lot longer than the standard out-and-back, but you get the Janggunbong ridge views for it.
