Villagers from Wanjang-ri and Samsong-ri used to cross this pass. It was a honey-gathering spot, hence 'bee pass'. From here the trail steepens and the rock ridge begins, with Elephant Rock and Turtle Rock leading toward the summit. Many hikers stop for a Baekdu-daegan photo.
